Ektar goes theatrical in KSA

Portfolio Description

Ektar International has installed a professional theatrical solution at the Jeddah Cultural Club. The installation was to support a new show running twice a day which required 16 simultaneous live mics.

The 12-day project was a high-profile one within the company, with Ektar director general Moammar AlHarbi providing oversight. As such, Khaled Bouajaja, project director and technical director at Ektar, was responsible for the sound design and engineering. The mic solution he selected was based on products from Shure. The manufacturer’s ULXD1 wireless bodypack transmitters and ULXD4 receivers were combined with ULXD2/SM58 handhelds and a UA844 antenna system to form the wireless solution.
Away from the microphones, the company also installed a main PA comprising products from JBL and GLS. The main system sees hangs of four per side JBL VRX932LA-1 with GLS EKF-28 double 18-inch subs providing low end. Power is via GLS 30.2 and 28.2 amplifiers while a Soundcraft Si Expression 2 provides the FOH mix. Completing the audio setup are JBL PRX415M stage monitors.
Having designed and installed the system, Mr Bouajaja remained with the venue to mix the first five performances of the show and to ensure that everything was working as expected.
